| 3DLanguage: America is a virtual American town for learning and practicing English by speaking it. Rather than risking embarrassment and tension by speaking to real people immediately, we give you the tools to practice in a safe environment. Using the 3DLanguage platform, we provide you with a fun, interactive place to learn. Southern California real estate has never been such a great bargain! If you are reading this, you are likely looking for a product for a friend or family member – if so, please email us here, and let us know their native language. We currently target Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, German, Italian, and French. Virtual Americans inhabit the town, waiting for you to interact with them. The conversations are the heart of the program and take place in an interface we call the VoiceBox. The VoiceBox contains the dialog in English, with a pronunciation guide. The initial release includes 8 characters with 2+ conversations each, covering the basics of conversational Spanish: pleasantries, directions, shopping, weather, etc. The dialogs are branching and the player has the ability to: * Hear entire sentences before speaking them * Hear single words * Bring up help and definitions for each word * Pause or rewind the conversation to practice specific sentences * Receive numerical ratings on how accurately you spoke the sentences * Selectively turn off the English words to practice without the help they provide * Turn off the entire VoiceBox for a real test!
In addition, many of the objects in the world are interactive. When you mouse over them they show the name of the object in English. If you right-click on the object it brings up a dialog box with more information and a speaker box to let you hear the word. |
